Founded by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlán in 1325, Mexico City was conquered and rebuilt by the Spaniards. Today the city is populated by 20 million people and is a chaotic metropolis set in a frame of wonderful mountains.
The city is a symbol of a mixture of European and indigenous culture and boasts Aztec ruins and classic European architecture, as well as a vibrant art scene and a gastronomic tradition with intense flavors.
“In Mexico you feel the death very close. This is why we are so alive.” – Gael Garcia Bernal, actor.
